World Environment Day

Next June 5th the World Environment Day is celebrated. This year Barbados will host this day, and the slogan is “Raise your voice, not the sea level”.

In 1972 the the United Nations General Assembly established this day, and created the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Following, we show you the actions planned for this day arranged by the UNEP. Here you are what they posted on their web:

1.   UNEP Goodwill Ambassadors, Don Cheadle, Yaya Touré, Gisele Bündchen and Ian Somerhalder are sending an SOS to the world to take action for World Environment Day by joining one of their teams to combat climate change. Access on http://wedchallenge.com and step up to the challenge.

2.   Prepare for the WED Tweetathon today!
Raise your voice and Tweet for #WorldEnvironmentDay.
Last year, World Environment Day was one of the top 10 most tweeted topics on the Twitterverse. This year, make your voice heard together with the millions who will show their solidarity for the islands, climate change and the environment.
Next 4 and 5 of June 2014 log on to your Twitter account and schedule some messages to be sent between those 48 hours. You just have to remember to include #WorldEnvironmentDay or #WED2014.

WED is the opportunity for everyone to realize the responsibility to care for the Earth. Recycle, plant a tree, get together sustainable and prosperous life for all on this planet. Every action counts!

Go further together!
