Yoga outdoors

If you are tired of practicing yoga at the gym or at home, enjoy the good weather and practice yoga in a park, on the beach, etc...

Practicing yoga outdoors brings us into contact with nature, revitalizes us and allows us to achieve unity with everything around us.

"Let your mind penetrate throughout the body towards your extremities, like the rays of the sun"

It is becoming more frequent that in big cities like Madrid, Barcelona or Milán large classes are organized to practice yoga outdoors. Here you are a link where you will find information about this type of classes for upcoming dates in Barcelona (yogafreebcn).

Ayurveda diet

Maybe, you have heard from this kind of diet as it is chosen by most of the celebrities however I didn´t know it and I found it quite interesting.

The ayurveda diet combines the power of food to our bodies to prevent nutritional imbalances.

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medicinal practice that encompasses a range of treatments including herbs, diet, meditation, massage and yoga to maintain or get healthy. This practice is based on the belief that health is the result of harmony between mind, body and spirit, that is, on the theory that "we are what we eat".

According to Ayurveda, within each person there are the 5 basic elements of the universe: earth, air, fire, water and space. The combination of these elements creates 3 types of energy or doshas which are called: vata, pitta and kapha. Each person has something of these 3 types and usually one of them is dominant:

  • Khapa: Stable person of strong character with a tendency to gain weight;
  • Pitta: Strong-willed perfectionist with a big appetite;
  • Vata: Person of light, thin, sensitive, sociable and creative appearance.
Once the Ayurveda professional classifies the patient, he helps you recognize the imbalance and guide you through patterns of supply and use of some herbs and massage synchronized to recover the lost balance.

Ayurveda specialist prepares food plan based on the patient Dosha. In patients Khapa prepares them a plan based on legumes and vegetables; in the case of Pitta soft drinks, sweets and increasing amounts predominate; and finally, in people with Vata energy, encouraged the uso of hot foods and teas.

Yoga

Yoga is more necessary than ever... the back from holiday make us experience again high levels of stress that added to the lack of exercise involves significant challenges for our health.

Nowadays, the average of hours at work is of 8 to 10 hours sitting in front a computer, as a result the spine is subjected to tremendous pressure, leading to suffering from back pain. Yoga exercises help, among others, to prevent and alleviate back problems. Here we show you some of these exercises (called "asanas"):

The triangle

This position favors dishing column stretching, contracting and relaxing simultaneously most of the muscles of the back. Consequently, the column is more flexible.

The dog

The posture of the dog looking down improves circulation in the legs, relaxes the back and revitalises the whole body. We started up and inclined forward placing palms at the same distance from the shoulders up to support the palms on the floor. We formed a triangle with legs and arms, introducing the head among them and falling it relaxed looking at the floor.

The child

It is a very common posture and very easy to do. Kneel on the floor, sit on your heels, bend forward and place your forehead on the floor. You can place your hands, palms up or extend forward along the ground and so they are in front of you.

Before practicing any of the above positions, I recommend that you do, as a warm-up exercise, the Sun Salutation. As it consists on a sequence of several exercises, here you are a video for a better understanding how to do it:

In yoga, besides practicing different positions, yo can also practice breathing and relaxation exercises (those are my favorite ...).

Finally remark that in yoga there is a growing variety of special programs:

  • Yoga for children, where they are taught through simple yoga poses, playful exercises and concentration to relax, focus and know your body and mind;
  • Yoga for pregnant women, where it helps control excess weight, stretch marks, sciatica, back pain and also provides flexibility, mobility and balance to deal with all the vitality change occurring. Moreover, relaxation exercises helps manage stress and fatigue during pregnancy. And finally, concentration and meditation help strengthen pregnant before any fear of the birthing process;
  • Yoga for seniorswhere gentle exercises are performed, relaxation and breathing.
So you have no excuse to start practicing yoga from now! Of course, do not forget to bring a non-slip mat and blanket for the relaxation time.

Gift for fans of Spanish Omelettes

If you want to give a gift to a fan of the Spanish Omelette, yourself, or even to those who still do not know it, amaze with the Senén's Omelette (tortilla de Senén).

Those are frozen gourmet omelettes, which are very easy to prepare: just warm it turn and turn in a pan and you will have a very juicy omelette of so amazing taste that you will hardly believe that those are frozen omelettes.

It lasts a year in the freezer, and about five days in the refrigerator after thawing.

Grab it in gourmet stores, or if you prefer, you can also buy it through the online store that you'll find on their website.

To give you an idea here you are a couple of photos that we have obtained from their website.

Prepared Spanish Omelette

If you do not have enough time or you are not gifted in cooking and you fancy a fantastic omelette freshly cooked, you just need to be hungry and someone who lend you a hand, or alternatively, you can just get hungry and a little pot of prepared Spanish Omelette.

We have found it in the supermarket and we think that it is a great idea!

Most of these prepared mixtures contain only potato, onion and oil, so they are suitable for celiacs (those are gluten free) and for those who are allergic to eggs, because you can use egg substitutes.

It is very easy to do: pour the content into a pan and heat it, then mix the content with beaten eggs and salt in a separate bowl, and finally fry the mixture turn and turn a few minutes in a pan with very little oil.

Enjoy it!

Be a fan of the Spanish Omelette !!!!!

We are absolute fans of this omelet in all versions:

Egg, potato, onion, oil and salt are enough to create a classic Spanish Omelette.

And if you are someone likes versions 2.0, these are our recommendations:

Asturian

Very thick, to which is added paprika and Asturian spicy sausage

Paisana
With red and green peppers, carrots, peas and sausage or ham

Navarra
With onion and green pepper

Sweet
With caramelized onions

Half curdle
The mixture was poured into a hot pan and when the outside is curdled it is removed so that the interior remains half curdle

With zucchini, garlic and parsley...

You can do it in the pan, in the microwave (this option has the advantage of containing less oil), or even in the Thermomix.
