Summer begins!

Next June 21st the summer begins in the northern hemisphere and with the first full moon of June the honeymoon comes!

That is called a honeymoon because this full moon is the best time to harvest honey from beehives.

And we know the trip of those just married as "honeymoon" because, in some traditions, the newlyweds ate food and drinks with honey,during their first month of marriage, to encourage love and fertility.

This is the time when the northern hemisphere of the Earth is closest to the Sun, the days are longer and the plans are many: pools are open, also the beach bars, the summer cinema, terraces... and the holidays begin!

So this week we will propose you some fresh ideas to enjoy this season!

European Music Day

We encourage you to celebrate next June 21 the European Music Day that coincides with the summer solstice. The first time that it was celebrated was in 1982 in France and three years later, in 1985, it was established as a european celebration.

Its aim is to promote music in two ways: first, the amateur musicians voluntarily go play outside and the second is by organizing free concerts in which public has the opportunity to see their favorite artists.

Here you are some links of free concerts that will take place in some european countries: Spain (Telemadrid), Greece (visit Greece), England (Party Earth) and France (Fete de la musique).

Finally, here you are some photos about my favorite instrument and a video of one of my favorite song : "Music was my first love" by John Miles. Enjoy it!

Brazil

Brazil is in vogue, this summer we have the Fifa World Cup and in 2016 the Olympic Games. It is a country which triumphs due to its beauty, people, happiness and food.

The most popular places are many, including:

  • Rio de Janeiro, with its world famous Carnival, Christ the Redeemer and Copacabana Beach;
  • Florianopolis, very much appreciated for its beaches and food (especially seafood);
  • Also Iguazu Falls, Porto Alegre, Recife (the Brazilian Venice), etc..

But since this summer the priority is football, here you are some songs of the World Cup, to start warming up the rhythm.

In 1972 the the United Nations General Assembly established this day, and created the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

Raise your voice and Tweet for #WorldEnvironmentDay.

Hiking

A good idea to celebrate the European Day of National Parks is to go hiking.
This sport lies in walking through marked paths which were homologated by the competent Authority of each country.

There are a lot of hiking routes around the World, and all of them are a pleasant and amazing way of doing sport in direct contact with the Nature.
Besides, as there are routes of all difficulty levels, from very easy and short to those which are high mountain sports, for sure that you will find very near great routes to go hiking, independently of your level.

But do not forget that all of us have to take care of the enviroment, do not let waste and of course do not set fire. Also have concern of animals and plants during your route.

Basis advices to go hiking are: inform you about the route, paths and expected time for completion, the dificulty level, the distance and the meaning of all signals that you will find throughout the route. Also it is needed to know in advance the weather, since some routes are not recommended under some weather conditions. A route map, mobile and GPS are almost essential (very advisable to inform some familiar or friend about your route).

The equipment is focus on, as a minimum, good hiking boots (your sport shop will recommend you the best option for your level), comfortable clothes, walking stick (it reduces the load of your knees), drink (almost one and a half litre of water or isotonic drinks), and some energetic food (chocolate, dried fruits, fruit, etc).

And now, ready to start the route, we show you some pictures of paths that we like a lot!
